About the Box Lacrosse League
The inaugural Box Lacrosse League launched in the fall of 2009 as a hybrid lacrosse program. Full size goals and a single long pole per team were utilized in the experimental first season. Clubs from Iowa State University and Drake University joined a collection of adult and high school players for four teams in the league's first season. Although there were some bumps along the way, the overall experience was fairly positive.
In 2010, the league obtained proper 4x4 cages and long poles were banished. A fifth team was added to the league, resulting in an unbalanced schedule. The changes improved competition and brought the closer to real box lacrosse than it had ever been.
After three seasons, the Cyclones remain undefeated. Their 2011 season culminated in the awarding of the Jim Burk Trophy, the official championship cup of the Central Iowa Lacrosse Association Box Lacrosse League. The Jim Burk Trophy is a traveling cup and will be given to the championship team each season.

The Box Lacrosse League is a high paced, competitive indoor lacrosse league. Participation is open to high school boys, college players, and adult men of differing skill levels. Weekly games are held at the Soccer House on the south side of the metro beginning in late fall and through early winter. There are no practices for this league.
Due to the nature of the league, it is recommended that all players have fundamental lacrosse skills prior to registering. High school players with no previous lacrosse experience are no longer allowed to participate for their own safety, as well as the enjoyment of others in the league.
This is a physical league. Checking is a necessary part of the sport and there are walls involved. Injuries have happened in the past. The Box Lacrosse League is a play at your own risk league.
